BFFM 2010 Cook-Off Competition
The Belconnen Fresh Food Markets took students to the movies!
The winning school of the BFFM 2010 Cook-Off won 60 tickets to the very special screening of Eclipse - Twilight Saga. We had the screening room to ourselves before the movie started and we did a few rounds of Trivia questions. There were great prizes to be won such as cooking books, twilight DVDs and posters, gift cards...

The BFFM 2010 Cook-Off took place on Thursday, 20th of May 2010.
It was an event full of fun, challenges and learning opportunities. CONGRATULATIONS to both schools and to their teachers, and thank you to our amazing judges for their presence and experience!
Our 2 finalists, Canberra High School & Telopea Park School each presented 2 incredible dishes full of creativity, mouthwatering flavors and color.

Thank you to both teams for their hard work, involvement and great spirit!
The winner was announced by our 5 judges, including a renowned Chef, a famous sports Coach, an Italian food lover, a busy business woman who still finds time to cook feasts on weekends & one of our storeowners/cooking experts who enjoyed it so much last year, she decided to come back.
Both schools won great prizes!

The winner of the BFFM 2010 Cook-Off was:
Canberra High School with the TEAM TIM TAM!
They received tickets to the very special screening of the Twilight Saga – Eclipse, as well as a cooking class with an award winning chef.
Telopea Park School received $200 worth of BFFM vouchers to buy fresh and keep going with the great cooking.

2010 Competition information
After the introduction and success of the High School Cooking Competition we have decided to continue it in 2010!
The competition was open to all grade 9 and 10 students in Canberra. Schools registered for the competition in Term 1 and entered their recipes by the end of Term 1.
They received $60 BFFM vouchers to buy their ingredients for the cook-off.
Two schools were chosen as finalists to compete in a live cook-off at the Belconnen Markets in Term 2.
We also sent a questionnaire to both finalists to get feedback on how we can improve the cook-off for next year.
Criteria for May 2010:*
Must use 2 vegetables - potato & mushroom / Must use 2 fruits - berries & banana
Time frame - 1 hour to cook both dishes
Entries will be judged on: Team work, Originiality, Creativity, Technical Skills, Presentation, Taste.
When sending in your 2 original recipe creations, be sure to make sure that your school stands out.
Each school should send in a 'Chef Profile'. This profile is a booklet introducing your Chefs and your recipes. (note: you Chefs are the students that will partake in the live cook off)
Your Chef Profile should include but is not limited to:
- Name, age, photo of Chefs,
- Details such as favourite chef, favourite food - anything to give the judges a good understanding of your team
- Recipes including method, ingredients and photos
- Explanation of how and why you came to create these recipes
Please note that there is no limit to the number of people that can partake in creation of the 2 original recipes, however during the finals, a maximum of 4 students can partake in the live cook-off. (so make sure your recipes can be cooked by no more than 4 people, within 1 hour)
